For the first time, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, today opened a new number of exhibition halls in the museum as part of the trial operation of the exhibition halls for visitors, in order to welcome visitors to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is considered the largest museum in the world to display the antiquities of a single civilization.
The construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum building, which has an area of more than 300,000 square meters, was completed during the year 2021, to include a number of exhibition halls, each of which is considered larger than many current museums in Egypt and the world, and contains a large number of distinctive and unique artifacts. Among them are the golden treasures of King Tutankhamun, which are on full display for the first time since the discovery of his tomb in November 1922.In addition to the collection of Queen Hetepe, the guard of the mother of King Khufu, the builder of the Great Pyramid in Giza, as well as the Museum of King Khufu’s Ships, as well as various archaeological collectibles from the pre-dynastic era until the Greek and Roman eras.
The Grand Egyptian Museum is currently carrying out a limited number of guided tours in the service area, which is the gardens and the commercial area that includes a number of restaurants, cafeterias and shops that include leading Egyptian brands, and the gift shop, in addition to the areas open for visiting in the museum, which include the Hanging Obelisk area, and the well-known main reception hall.
