Today, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the work of the tenth meeting of the Committee for the Development of the Arab Tourism Strategy began, headed by the Advisor to the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Muhammad Saleh Shalwah, and with the participation of representatives of Arab countries, to discuss the implementation of the fifth axis of “tourism development and investment” of the Arab Strategy for Tourism.
Director of the Transport and Tourism Department of the League of Arab States, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Bahjat Abu Al-Nasr, confirmed that the two-day meeting is devoted to examining the obstacles that obstruct the implementation of the Arab Tourism Strategy.
He pointed out in his opening speech that the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism approved the updated document for the Arab Tourism Strategy, which it submitted to the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level to consider adopting it in its final form.
He added that the strategy was presented to the Arab Summit in its 32nd session, which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Resolution No. (Q.Q.: 840 D.C. (32) - Part 2-5/19/2023) was issued, which states: “Adopting the strategy Arab Tourism Council in the attached form, as a guidance document, provided that the reference for implementing this strategy is for the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States.
The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States stated in its memorandum explaining the meeting that the General Secretariat was assigned to hold a meeting of the Technical Committee for Arab Tourism in order to develop an action plan to implement the Arab Strategy for Tourism, taking into account updating the data on which it depends in the work, in addition to assigning the Technical Committee for Arab Tourism to update the Arab Strategy for Tourism. Every 3 years, it is then presented to the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism for approval.
