Promoting innovation in European smart destinations
The European Capital of Smart Tourism and the European Green Leader for Smart Tourism reward large and small European cities for their outstanding, innovative and sustainable tourism practices.
Our aim is to promote innovation to promote smart and sustainable destinations in Europe, enhance the tourism offer for visitors and facilitate new partnerships, networking and the exchange of best practices. We also aim to strengthen the EU’s forward-looking tourism offer to the global public and sustainably increase the number of visitors to leading destinations that offer unique visitor experiences.
This initiative is managed by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs. It is supported by the Single Market Programme and results from preparatory work proposed by the European Parliament
